Meet Christy Miranda
Growing up, I thought one day I would become a teacher and then as a teenager it actually happened. In 2000, I started working with the summer camp kids at Ms. B's Daycare (now known as the Watson location of Wonder Years). My best friend's mom owned the center so I sort of just stumbled into the job by accident.
I really enjoyed working with the kids and thought one day I would like to open my own child care center...even chose that as my career for my Senior Project in high school. After graduating high school I accepted a job working for Ms. B's son, Wyatt, and helped him grow the business from two child care centers to seven over an 11 year time period. In 2014, I was presented with an opportunity to take over a couple of those centers and my dream of owning my own centers came true.
One of the things that I love so much about this business is the relationships that are formed with our customers and the closeness between staff, we become one big family. Now that I am a mom, I feel an even stronger connection with our customers because I can better understand their expectations, concerns, frustrations, etc. I know that leaving your most prized possessions in the care of someone else can be nerve-wracking; I hope that we can alleviate some of that stress when you leave your child in our care.
Although it can be a challenge going between the two facilities at times, I really enjoy the variety it brings to my day. Aside from my role at Wonder Years, being Maya's mom is my other favorite job. When I have free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, listening to music, watching movies, thrift store shopping, and being crafty.
